WALLACE -The stage of the Sixth Street Melodrama continues to bring live theater to the Silver Valley, and this summer is no exception.

Opening on Wednesday, July 6 is "Purtie Gertie Gets Plugged While Wallace Welcomes the Wireless," a melodrama written by Sixth Street veteran Paul Roberts, and directed by Ryan Griffin.

The action centers around Purtie Gertie Gunderson's Boarding House and Saloon, where Ezra Edison, played by Paul Roberts, has his own laboratory where he works on various inventions.

When villainess Mimi L'Etoile, with her sidekick Bullet Baxter, portrayed by Molly Roberts and Tony Underdahl, show up, they make Gertie Gunderson, played by Erin Nansel, and Ezra's daughter Emma, played by Mariah Schlepp, a bit nervous when Mimi tries to find a way to steal Edison's invention. But Sir Reginald Kingsley, portrayed by Jesse Duncan, will try and keep this from happening.

After a short intermission, the cast returns to the stage to perform Kelly's Alley Revue, a musical revue with lots of singing, comedy and fun entertainment.

The review is written and produced by Carol Roberts, and will have a 1940s radio show theme, with lots of music from the 1940s. Roberts and Wyatt Newell will also be performing in the review. Pam Pringle also returns as accompanist for the summer season.

Opening Aug. 3 is "Run to the Roundhouse Nellie, He Can't Corner You There." This play is written by Fendrich Shubert and directed by Vern Hanson.

This show is also followed by Kelly's Alley Revue. The August revue will have some songs in it paying a tribute to the railroad.

Shows run Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. "Purtie Gertie Gets Plugged While Wallace Welcomes the Wireless" runs July 6-31.

"Run to the Roundhouse Nellie, He Can't Corner You There," opens Aug. 3 and runs through Aug. 28.

Tickets are $10. The family rate is $30 for a family of two adults and two children, with each additional child $5.

The theater is at 212 Sixth St.

Reservations: 752-8871, or (877) SIXTHST.
