Former Diamond Cup hydro to be displayed in Cd'A
Check out the U-8 Oh Boy Oberto hydroplane over the Fourth of July. It was the boat used in the making of the 2005 movie "Madison," when it was repainted to the colors of the Miss Madison. The boat raced on Lake Coeur d'Alene in 4 Diamond Cups as the Savairs Mist.
The Oh Boy Oberto will be in town to kick off the Diamond Cup Regatta, as organized by the Hydromaniacs of Coeur d'Alene. The boat will be on display at Independence Point on July 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. - even firing up the engine throughout the day.
The Hydromaniacs are a 501c3 organization whose purpose is to raise funds for the Museum of North Idaho by sponsoring an annual Diamond Cup Regatta - featuring vintage hydroplane boats from around the country. The regatta is an American Power Boat Association sanctioned event.
