Help your body heal itself

The body is made to heal itself. It's our job to help it do just that. Are we really taking care of our bodies if we mask symptoms but don't really find out the cause of those symptoms?
If you take pain medication whenever you have aches and pains, you most definitely will feel better, but I'm certain that these same aches and pains will return. If you continue to take care of the pain but don't find the cause of that pain, the pain will probably not only continue but you will find pain occurring in other places in your body as well.
It's time to stop masking your pain but actually seek treatment for the reason that pain persists. Chiropractors do this by examining the spine and determining if the spine is properly aligned.
Of course, there are a variety of techniques we use to perform this evaluation and it doesn't only include asking where the pain is. We are able to pinpoint the exact location of a bone that is out of alignment. The next step would be to adjust the spine and move the bone that is out of its proper place. In doing this, the bone moves back into proper position allowing the body to function as it should.
You may be wondering how an aligned spine can help the body to function well and help to avoid pain and disease. Did you know that all the nerves in the body send messages to the brain which then sends messages throughout the body in order for all the functions to occur? We don't think about breathing, blinking, moving a limb, digesting food, etc. Our bodies do that naturally because the nervous system functions and allows this to happen.
If the nervous system doesn't function properly, something is bound to go wrong with your body. Pain, disease, injuries, etc. will occur because something is interfering with the nerves and those all important messages aren't getting where they were meant to be.
It makes sense then to realize that if a nerve that helps the body to digest properly is impeded, digestion problems will occur. If a nerve that controls blood pressure is not able to work correctly because of a spinal bone pushing it, high blood pressure could occur. I could go on and on with examples of what could and does go wrong with our bodies when a spinal bone is out of alignment. The examples are endless as are the stories about lives being changed forever because a chiropractor has treated the spine and helped the nervous system to do its job. We help the body to heal itself by keeping the spine aligned so the nerves can do their seemingly miraculous job.
A body that is allowed to heal itself at full capacity, free of spinal misalignments, is a happy and healthy body. Chiropractic doesn't just treat the pains, injuries and diseases after they have begun to cause life to change for the worse. Next time you reach for medication when you're suffering from pain, ask yourself if that is helping to treat the cause of the pain or actually is only masking the symptom.

You have been seeing the terms ADD and ADHD very often in our recent articles. This is due to the fact that our Focus program is now in full swing and we have begun helping children and adults in managing their sensory integration issues such as ADD/ADHD or patterns of being impulsive, hyperactive, inattentive or exhibit an unexplained lack of productivity.
Chiropractic goes beyond pain
Our bodies are amazing. Think about that statement. As you do, also think about the fact that you probably took a breath, blinked your eyes, moved a limb, moved your head, focused your eyes, digested food, healed a cut, wiggled a toe, salivated and a million other internal operations. Although you were not readily thinking about all of these processes, they were going on without the need for your input. Your brain, while also supplying you with conscious thought, is simultaneously orchestrating a laundry list of functions to keep you alive and well.
