The Glacier Twins snapped a four-year

losing streak to conference foe Missoula on June 22 when they

topped the Mavericks 10-8 in Class AA American Legion baseball

play. It was the first victory for the Twins over the Mavericks

since 2007. The Mavs had won the last 16 meetings.

Zach Maassen pitched seven innings in

Missoula and allowed six runs. Missoula pulled within two in the

ninth, but closer Carl Talsma struck out the final two batters with

the bases loaded.

Talsma finished 3-for-3 at the plate

including a double. Devyn Rocker tallied four RBIs on 3-for-4

hitting.

Glacier tallied 13 total hits. Missoula

was plagued by five fielding errors.

The next day, Glacier took down the

Mavs again in a 12-7 win, this time led by pitcher Cody Hill. Hill

was solid on the mound and allowed only six runs in eight

innings.

The Twins put up six runs in the first

two innings and another four in the sixth frame to take control of

the game. Kyler Blades and Cody Elek both went 2-for-4 at the

plate. Devyn Rocker was 2-for-3, including two RBIs and a double.

Geoff Streeter and Chris King each had RBIs in the game.

Glacier ran into trouble on June 26

when they traveled to Medicine Hat for a conference doubleheader.

The Monarchs edged the Twins 12-9 and 10-8 after building big leads

in each game.

The Twins return home today when they

host the Calgary Redbirds at 7 p.m. at Memorial Park. They host

Calgary again on Thursday with a doubleheader starting at 1

p.m.
