POST FALLS - Police found two separate groups of teen males who have admitted to recent graffiti incidents in Post Falls, but detectives don't believe they are tied to the cases involving the war memorials at the American Legion.

The reward in the cases involving the M60 tank and personnel carrier - both recently cleaned up by two Post Falls veterans - has grown to $2,500.

In another set of incidents, two 16-year-old Post Falls boys have been charged with nine counts of misdemeanor malicious injury to property by graffiti, including on residents' fences, the restrooms at White Pines Park and other locations in the Poleline Avenue corridor and under the bridge at Falls Park.

The Press does not publish the names of minors charged with misdemeanors.

Post Falls Police Capt. Greg McLean said detectives received an anonymous tip on the cases and a search of homes led to the charges.

In another case, two Post Falls 13-year-olds and a Post Falls 14-year-old have been charged with one count of misdemeanor malicious injury to property by graffiti. They are being investigated for other incidents.

"The group was caught in the act by an officer spray painting the I-90 overpass at Falls Park," McLean said.

None of the suspects in both groups were arrested. McLean said the taggings are not considered to be gang-related.

McLean said police don't believe any of the suspects are tied to the Legion case because the style of tagging is different. The suspects also denied involvement with the war memorials.

"The Legion case is still a top priority for us," McLean said.

Meanwhile, Post Falls veterans Dale Creed and William Doramus secured a paint donation from Rodda Paint and cleaned up and re-painted the war memorials last weekend.

"I stewed about it for four days, and I didn't want to see the Fourth pass (with the memorials still having the taggings)," Creed said. "I did it out of respect for veterans. When people step up and serve the country, they need to be respected for that.

Legion Commander John Dunlap said he appreciates the work.

"They look brand new," he said.

Those with information on the Legion cases are urged to call Post Falls Police at 773-3517 or leave a tip at www.postfallspolice.com.
