A television station that airs a

30-minute travel program has an interest in northwestern Montana –

and a local nonprofit tourism organization hopes to take advantage

of the opportunity to promote the region.

Bill Caldwell, president of the Lincoln

County Tourism Coaltion, and local businesspeople met with KXLY-TV

out of Spokane, Wash., on Feb. 21.

“Only a small group of businesspeople

were able to attend the meeting,” Caldwell said. “Those of us that

were there, however, did come away feeling that this really is an

exciting opportunity for our county.”

Caldwell said KXLY sales

representatives shared plans to air a 30-minute travel program

featuring northwestern Montana for three months this summer. Eureka

has committed to funding one segment on its region and Caldwell

hopes southern Lincoln County can fund two segments.

Although the price may seem steep to

some, Caldwell believes it is a great opportunity to get the word

out about Lincoln County’s outdoor attractions.

“I am asking each of you to consider

the potential of this opportunity and take time from your busy

schedules to attend a meeting to see if we can generate the support

to make it happen,” Caldwell said.

A meeting has been scheduled for 2

p.m., on Thursday, March 3 in the conference room at Flathead

Valley Community College-Lincoln County Campus in Libby.

The meeting will include a clip of a

previous Explorer TV show and advertisement to give attendees a

better idea of the production’s quality. The meeting will also

include a question-and-answer session.

The local tourism group also planned to

meet on Wednesday with Lincoln County commissioners.
