EPHRATA - A Moses Lake woman faces charges for allegedly crashing into another vehicle while texting.

Prosecutors charged Emily L. Hernandez-Stepney, 28, with two counts of vehicular assault in Grant County Superior Court for the October 2010 collision.

Hernandez-Stepney was traveling north on state Route 17, two miles outside of Moses Lake, when she crossed the center line and  struck a Chevrolet Suburban, according to a Washington State Patrol report.

Witnesses reported Hernandez-Stepney said she was texting at the time of the collision, according to the police report. Investigators allegedly found she had sent several texts before crossing the collision.

The driver and passenger in the Suburban were injured, with the driver suffering a fractured right knee, injured neck, back and shoulder. Her daughter suffered a broken right foot and received facial lacerations, according to the police report.

Hernandez-Stepney's son and sister were also injured in the collision. Her sister suffered a fractured femur and her son suffered a fractured wrist, fractured leg, facial lacerations and chemical burns, according to court records.

Hernandez-Stepney suffered a fractured wrist, internal and head injuries, according to court documents.
