Libby youth golfer 5th at tournament

Libby youth golfer Ryggs Johnston

recently competed in the U.S. Kids Desert Shootout Golf Tournament

at the Wigwam Golf Resort in the Phoenix area.

Competing in a field of 38 in the

10-year-old boys division, Johnston placed fifth overall – five

strokes behind the winner.

Johnston opened the tournament on a

cold, rainy and windy Feb. 20 with a round of 77 – good for second

place. On the second day, he shot an 82 for an overall score of

159.

Teddy Tetak of Folsom, Calif., won the

tournament with a 154.

Don Walker caddied for Johnston.

The top five finishers received an

etched glass bowl trophy. In all, 296 competitors from 45 states

and seven countries participated.
