BUTTE - Charlo found themselves in two close contests at the Western C Divisionals but couldn't quite pull things through as they bowed out of the postseason. They didn't go without a fight, however.

In their opening round game against Shields Valley on Thursday, Charlo built a 26-19 lead by halftime.

Then Shields Valley made a move in the third, scoring 20 and taking a 39-34 lead in the fourth quarter. It was a tight battle to the end and four free throws with 30 seconds to go was able to pull Shields Valley away from Charlo.

Junior Dillon Delaney led the team with 14 points and eight rebounds. That put the Vikings in a must win against Ennis on Friday.

Ennis got out to a quick start offensively, but so did the Vikings.

Ennis held a 39-31 lead at halftime, but Charlo came charging back in the third.

The Vikings outscored Ennis 17-7 in the third quarter to take a 48-46 lead going into the fourth quarter.

However, with senior Chance Rosenbaum fouling out with seven minutes to go in the game, Ennis had a 21-point fourth quarter and hit 15 of their free throws for the 67-50 victory.

Senior Chico Stipe led the team with 14 points while junior Dylan Delaney put in 13.

Charlo finished the season 17-5 and finished as co-champions of District 14-C in the regular season.
