Mallams 2nd Rendezvous Nordic race

Ian Mallams took second place in the 50K Nordic race last weekend

at the 32nd annual Yellowstone Rendezvous in West Yellowstone.

Mallams, 21, finished with a 2:40:22,

only 39 seconds back of overall winner Jason Travis, of Park City,

Utah.

Whitefish High School graduate Matt

Shryock, 24, who now lives in Missoula, finished ninth overall with

a 2:46:54. Mallams and Shryock were first and second, respectively,

in the 18-24 year-old division.

Other local finishers in the 50K

included John Gangemi, 27th overall and second in the 50-54 age

division, Ryan Dye, 46th overall and seventh in the 35-39 age

division, and Russell Mallams, 92nd overall and seventh in the

55-59 age division.

Current Glacier Nordic member Fischer

Gangemi, 16, took fourth overall in the 25K race with a 1:23:18.

Jason Schmidt, who recently won the Broken Binding races at the

Stillwater Nordic area, took 17th overall with a 1:28:03.

Rehberg to attend rally for Jesus statue
