WALLACE - Ione Halkowiez is 89 years old, and she's not afraid of two punks trying to steal her car.
The Wallace woman suffered a broken arm Sunday when she confronted a man and woman getting into her white Kia Spectra, and was dragged when they drove away.
Driver Brett Bosh, 28, of North Dakota, was charged with grand theft, felony eluding law enforcement, burglary, resisting and obstructing and driving under the influence. Passenger Theresa Bosh, 25, also from North Dakota, was booked for grand theft, burglary and resisting and obstructing.
Halkowiez had stepped into the Wallace Inn to drop something off while leaving her car running. Upon returning to her car, Halkowiez told deputies that she thought the couple had just gotten into her car by accident.
When she approached the couple from the passenger side, Theresa Bosh shut the door. When Halkowiez tried to open the door, Bret Bosh hit the gas and dragged Halkowiez an unspecified distance.
Following a short pursuit that reached speeds of nearly 80 mph on Interstate 90, the authorities stopped the Kia.
Brett and Theresa Bosh refused to exit the stolen vehicle, so the deputies broke the driver and passenger-side windows. Both were taken into custody.
At their first appearance Monday, bond was set for $20,000 for Brett Bosh and $3,000 for Theresa Bosh.
Halkowiez was treated for a broken arm Monday and recovering.
