Richard Conley will be the new superintendent of Boundary County School District this summer after current Superintendent Don Bartling retires on June 30.

Conley has been the superintendent of Winlock School District in Washington for six years. Prior to that he was the superintendent at Mary Walker School District in Stevens County, Washi., for five years.

“I worked 13 years in Idaho and wanted to get back to my roots,” said Conley. “I have lots of family in Idaho.”

Conley graduated from high school in Emmett and received his bachelor and master’s degrees in elementary education from Boise State University.

 He attended the University of Idaho to earn his sixth year specialist degree in educational administration.

All of his educational experience has been in rural schools except for a few years in Boise. “That’s what I like,” said Conley, in regards to rural schools.

“I’m looking forward to being in the Boundary County School District. I’m looking forward to meeting the people that make up the District and I’m looking forward to becoming a part of the community and the District,” said Conley. “It is very important that the superintendent be part of the system.”

Conley is looking forward to the challenge of working within a system to make it run better and run smoother. He believes Boundary County School District is a good system  that he can help fine tune.

Conley and his wife have three children and one grandson. He enjoys hunting, fishing and horses.
