Head coach: Heather McDonald (sixth year)

2010 overall record: 8-1

2010 league record: 8-1

2010 postseason: Second at Districts, 9th at Class 2A finals - Devyn Olson and Delaney Towle advanced to second round.

Number of returnees: Three

ROSTER: SENIOR - Paulie Garza; JUNIORS - Katelyn Andrews and Delaney Towle; SOPHOMORES - Hailey Guse, Mariah Long, Mikayla Parris, and Stephanie Tolley; FRESHMEN - Ivone Garza, Carly Gearhart, Kylie Kummer, and Payton Roberts.

OUTLOOK: Despite losing out on CWAC regular season and district titles, Othello found a way to rise when it counted, finishing in ninth place at the 2010 Class 2A state finals.

This season they return three young ladies with varsity experience, including Towle who along with graduated Devyn Olson, advanced to the second round of play at last year's state finals

Paulie Garza and Andrews will be called upon to lend valuable experience.

Coach McDonald also has a few youngsters who could contribute this campaign.

"Mikayla Parris  and Haley Guse are hitting the ball very well and show lots of potential," McDonald said. "The group of freshmen that I  have are going to be great additions to the team, and have the possibility of filling out the other positions."

Othello's strength lies in the leadership of the veterans according to McDonald and that the team holds a strong unity in what amounts to an individual sport.

"If they haven't played golf before, golf can seem quite different from team sports in the fact that they don't have anyone to pick them up when a shot doesn't go well," McDonald said. "Making them realize that it takes practice and we all started in the same boat, a little frustrated and a little green."
