SUNNYSIDE - A strong start to the golf season was a welcome sight for the Ephrata Tigers.
On Saturday, the Tigers outpaced Grandview at Black Rock Creek with a score of 170 to easily distance themselves from their Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) opponents and their 261.
The match was played over nine-holes.
Ephrata's scorers were Andrew Whalen (40), Mattias Dilling (41), Bryan Heer (43), and Cody Cummings (46).
Ephrata girls play alone
SOAP LAKE - Lakeview golf course was the scene for the opener for the Ephrata Lady Tigers girls golf course as they were set to battle Chelan, Quincy, and East Valley.
Unfortunately, Quincy an East Valley were no-shows according to Ephrata head coach Heidi Burns and Chelan came shorthanded.
Thus Ephrata's 204 was a solid score for the team to get their swings in the start the season if the competition was only two Chelan golfers.
Allison Duff finished with a 44, Megan Criss hit a 48, Kelsey Sage scored a 50, and Ann Slininger rounded out the qualifying scores with a 62.
"It was a pretty good round for their first nine," Burns said. "Allison played very well but the best surprise was Ann improving her game by a number of strokes to help the team score. Can't wait to see how she will contribute to the season."
