Silverwood Theme Park plans to hire 1,200 people for the upcoming season.

The park near Athol is seeking to fill positions such as ride operators, lifeguards, food and beverage workers, housekeepers, retail positions and games staffers.

Positions will include supervisors and entry level positions. There will be a training program starting next month.

Nancy DiGiammarco, public relations director for Silverwood, said wages will range from $7.25 an hour up to $12 or more an hour.

The average employee will work about 40 hours per week. Schedules will vary.

"We're looking for people of all ages, including seniors and adults," DiGiammarco said. "We've had entire families that work in the park."

The 216-acre theme and water park opens on May 7. It will be open weekends in May.

During June, July and August, the park will be open daily.

It will return to weekends only in September. Scarywood, the Halloween version of Silverwood Theme Park, opens in October.

People interested in applying for the jobs can go to www.workatsilverwood.com to fill out an application.

The park also is hosting two job fairs, when interviews will be conducted.

The first job fair will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday in Silverwood's Theatre of Illusion. The second job fair is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 26.
