Monica Huggett will be coming to Montana to perform twice in 2011. Monica is one of the founders of and performers in the Montana Baroque Music Festival now in its eighth year in July.
For her other visit she will be bringing Trio Sonnerie, her longest running and smallest group. They will be coming from the United Kingdom to present the choicest pick of Europe’s chamber music from the baroque period. Harmony of Nations will be performed in Missoula, Montana, Thursday March 24, 7:30 pm at the University Congregational Church, 405 University Avenue. Doors open at 7 pm. A minimum donation of $25 is appreciated.
A main feature will be selections from Biber’s astonishing “Mystery Sonatas” for virtuoso violin. Of course, the Harmony of Nations would not be complete without JS Bach, here represented by a magnificent sonata for violin and harpsichord!
The program includes works by Thomas Baltzar, John Jenkins, Tobias Hume, Johann Jakob Froberger, Georg Bohm, Heirrich Ignaz Biber, Marin Marais, Antoine Forqueray, and Johann Sebastian Bach.
For information call Jean Morrison (406) 826-3600.
