MOSES LAKE - Big Bend Vikings baseball continued its road to

rebuilding on Friday night when they recorded a split with visiting

Green River CC at Larson Field.

Green River entered the doubleheader with a 6-1 win and some top

wins prior to meeting the Vikings who then showed they may be

working their way up the Northwest Athletic Association of

Community Colleges (NWAACC) food chain.

MOSES LAKE - Big Bend Vikings baseball continued its road to rebuilding on Friday night when they recorded a split with visiting Green River CC at Larson Field.

Green River entered the doubleheader with a 6-1 win and some top wins prior to meeting the Vikings who then showed they may be working their way up the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) food chain.

Big Bend won the nightcap 7-4 to earn the split after dropping a 2-0 decision in the opener.

In game one the Vikings (4-4) were held in check by Green River pitching with the game's only scoring taking place in the top of the first inning.

Big Bend had a chance to get on the board in the sixth but failed to push across any runners when they had Vikings on first and second.

Randy Button, Cody Brunner and AJ McNee all pitched for the Vikings and kept the Green River bats in check despite the Big Bend offense failing to score.

But in the second game, the Vikings' bats came to life after faling behind 2-0 after Green Rivers' first at bat.

The Vikings scored twice in the fifth off of a two-run single by Bryan Karwacki.

Green River recaptured the lead with two runs in the next top frame.

However, this time the Vikings found the bats needed to take control of the game with a five-run eruption.

The big hit was Brett Gray's three-run double off of the right field wall.

Other top hitters during the rally were Ryan Morgan, Jake Faulk, and Karwacki.

Nate Regal started for Big Bend on the mound and earned the win while Geoff Davis earned the save.

The Vikings travel to Arizona beginning with a game today against South Mountain CC before playing one game at Central Arizona College on Wednesday and a doubleheader Thursday against Glendale Community College.

Lindgren said he expects some solid competition against teams from one of the better junior college leagues in the nation.
