Huskies tennis sweeps dual with Quincy

OTHELLO - A strong start to the Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) campaign was a welcome thing for the Othello Huskies tennis teams.
Othello won 5-0 in girls action and 4-1 in boys action against the visiting Quincy Jacks on Tuesday.
Ashley Almaguer won in two sets at No. 1 singles against Clara Rassmussen 6-1, 7-6 (6) and Katrina Montemayor defeated Lady Jack Denise Gomez at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-1.
Othello then swept doubles action as Emma Hymus/Jocelyn Cantu rolled 6-1, 6-1 over Claudia Valenzuela/Olivia Arizmendi at No.1, the No.2 Lady Huskies team of Amelia Roylance/Yanitta Cantu won 7-5, 7-6 over Sara Rigby and Blanca Cornoa, and at No.3, Bethany Vargas/Brooke Roylance slipped past Reyna Diaz/Perla Gonzalez 6-1.
At No, 1 boys doubles, Marcus Garza/Wesley Cogswell beat Adam Wilson/Joe Avalos 6-1, 6-1, and the No. 2 tandem of Austin Roylance/Gabe Harris defeated James Bensch/Mario Hernandez, 6-1, 6-2.
Quincy lost No.3 doubles by forfeit.
In singles play, Othello's No. 1, Alec Montemayor fell to Quincy's Garrett Van Dyke, 6-0, 7-5 but No.2 Huskie Benn Taff knocked off Samuel Gregg 6-2, 6-2.
