MABTON - A resurgent Royal softball team swept Mabton 9-7 and 14-3 on Saturday.

"We played well in both games hitting .386 as a team for both games," Royal head coach Pete Christensen said. "We had 11 hits in both games and made very good contact with the ball.  We haven't experienced a real good pitcher as of yet but that will come with our next game on April 12 against Cle Elum."

Shanna Seeley went 6-for-8 over both games, Maria Garcia was 4-for-7, Lanea Clouse ended up 4-for-6, and Gladys Meza was 3-for-7.

"We don't play now for two weeks so we have plenty of time to work on the areas that are a challenge for us," Christensen said. " The girls are excited and willing to make the changes needed for a district run, which is one of our goals for this year."
