GEORGE - The community of George will have a weekend farmers market, starting on June 4, in the George Community Park.

According to manager Deanna LaVoie, the market will be held on Saturdays until the harvest season concludes. Vendors will be invited to participate on additional days when there is a community event.

George has a "World's Largest Cherry Pie" celebration on the Fourth of July. It also has a bluegrass festival during the summer.

"I want to offer the vendors additional opportunities when the are paying customers in town," LaVoie said.

The farmers market will go from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and early sales will be allowed. Vendors will be required to finish clean-up by 2:30 p.m.

For information about cost, rules and regulations and other questions, you may call LaVoie at 398-3989.
