Keziah (Kay) Schwindel passed away April 21, 2011. Kay was born July 6, 1910, in a sod house on the homestead to Anon and Sophia Anderson in Bowman County, N.D. Kay witnessed many changes during her lifetime. She told stories of the horse and buggy as the means of transportation and riding the stage coach. She attended school in Scranton, N.D.
Kay married Fred Schwindel Nov. 30, 1933, in Baker, Mont. They owned a hardware store in the small farming town of Hettinger, N.D., as well as an electrical, propane gas distributor and insulation business. In 1947 they moved to Coeur d'Alene to enjoy the Idaho life style. Kay enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling. In the '60s and '70s they traveled to Mexico, Hawaii, the Orient and Europe. In 1984 Kay and her sister traveled to Norway to visit the ancestral farm and relatives near Lillehammer, Norway.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Fred.
She is survived by her son, Lynn of Coeur d'Alene; sister Aleyne and her husband Joe of Bismark, N.D.; niece Joleyne Presthus of Minneapolis, Minn.; and two nephews, Don Clement of Bismark and David Clement of Oklahoma City, Okla.
