McEUEN: Invest in jobs instead

In regard to Saturday's, My Turn, Mr. Connaway has some very good points. The McEuen field project is for the most part a joke. The city, the state and the country are in debt and the mayor is saying we should spend millions and millions of dollars for a "show site," and dump the boat launch.

I guess Madam Mayor does not own a boat, or if she does, she doesn't launch it on the weekend. All boat launch parking lots are overflowing on the weekend and she wants to eliminate one?

I did not think the McEuen project was a good one from the start. My first thought was, who is getting a payback? Who is going to profit from this - for sure the average citizen of the area is not. I say let the project go. Let's work to bring some money and jobs to the area before we spend what we don't have.
