Whitefish honors host of top scholars

Ninety-two students earned straight A’s during the past two semesters at Whitefish High School.
The students, including 28 freshmen, 18 sophomores, 23 juniors and 23 seniors, were invited to attend the high school’s Academic Awards program, sponsored by the Whitefish chapter of National Honor Society.
The program featured guest speaker Chris Ruffatto, a high school science teacher who presented a slide show on his recent rafting trip down the Yampa River in Colorado and its geology.
The 4.0 students include seniors Hannah Dillon, Bailey Eaton, Sydney Gillette, Stella Holt, Matthew Kennedy, Adam Koziol, Kiley McConnell, Jake Morison, Keaton Morrison, Miranda Myers, Britney Petrina, Jonathan Reimer, Jessica Sagen, Jack Steele, Carl Talsma, Erik Ehlert, Samantha Faraone, Anne Gustenhoff, Kaia Morrison, Dietrich Perchy, Julianne Peterman, Simone Saitta and Shelby Scherping.
Juniors earning perfect grades include Breanna Barnes, Samantha Dittman, Conner Ellis, Jacob Forrest, Natalie Gayner, Will Holdhusen, Nick Jack, Joseph Perry, Reed Platke, Molly Schmidt, Mark Stormes, Triana Bouillon, Anna Carpenter, Justine Dugdale, Maggie Frankino, Ashley Millard, Michela Millette, Alexandra Pickeral, Lauren Stevens, Mackenzie Thomas, Hailey Vasquez, Eli Watts and Kristiana Wigner.
Sophomores with 4.0 grade-point averages are Emily Blumhardt, Ryan Chauner, Megan Danczyk, Samuel Donaldson, Curran Edland, Hannah Gulbrandson, Spencer Hale, Jonathan Jacobs, Cassandra Johannsen, Hania Koziol, Kelsey McFeely, Michael Reimer, Waylon Roberts, Perrey Sobba, Claire Venery, Dailen Brown, Megan Danczyk and Lindsey Viscomi.

Climate change awards announced
Climate Smart Glacier Country announced its Climate Smart Champions during a ceremony at the Earth Day celebration April 21 in Whitefish. Awards were presented to businesses, youth and an individual who are leaders in building local solutions to climate change challenges.
