The 4A Region 1 baseball tournament opener between No. 3 seed Sandpoint at No. 2 Lakeland on Saturday was postponed due to rain and rescheduled for Monday in Rathdrum.

The winner of Monday's game will travel to top-seeded Moscow (10-8, 5-2 4A IEL) on Tuesday.

With the rainout, teams will play Monday through Thursday, with the championship game on Thursday at the site of the highest remaining seed.

A doubleheader matching St. Maries at Timberlake scheduled for Saturday was canceled, giving the Intermountain League championship to the Tigers.

Timberlake (10-8, 7-3 IML) will enter this week's 3A District 1 tournament as the top seed, with Bonners Ferry (8-11, 8-4) getting the second seed and facing No. 3 Priest River (10-9, 7-5) on Friday. Timberlake won the league title because it had a better winning percentage in league than did Bonners.

No. 4 St. Maries (3-11, 3-7) will face No. 5 Kellogg (5-9, 3-9) in a play-in game on Tuesday at a site to be determined, with the rest of the tournament being held Friday and Saturday at Timberlake High.

The regular season doubleheader finale pitting Sandpoint at Lakeland in softball was also canceled and will not be made up, as the 4A Region 1 tournament begins on Tuesday at Lakeland High.

Sandpoint will face Moscow at 2 p.m. and the winner of that game will face Lakeland at 4 p.m. in the double-elimination tournament.

A tennis match between Lakeland at Libby was also postponed and will not be made up.
