FILLIOS: Highway job up his alley

As the residents of the ESHD expect that our roads be kept safe, we need the type of leadership that Chris Fillios will bring to ESHD. Chris brings years of experience managing organizations and budgets, and will bring the necessary cost controls and responsiveness essential to running a highway district for the greater benefit of our east side residents. It's high time we elect leaders to leadership positions, and Chris offers the level-headedness and sensitivity needed to make rational decisions for the greater good of the residents of East Side.

PROVEN: Vote for Lippert, Paul

Post Falls' voters in School Board Zones 2 and 3, does it make sense to elect unproven candidates who have been recruited and supported by political extremists when our incumbents Michelle Lippert and Dave Paul have proven they make decisions with the best interests of students in mind?

I have met both opposition candidates and it is obvious they know little about school district finances. As the Post Falls School District attempts to implement Superintendent Luna's new laws, it is crucial that knowledgeable individuals make the decisions about how the state money is spent to ensure students continue to receive a quality education.

Dave Paul and Michelle Lippert have demonstrated they possess this knowledge. Under their watch, as state funding for education has significantly decreased, they have worked collaboratively with district administration and staff to minimize any negative impact on students and their families. They have demonstrated fiscal responsibility while maintaining their focus on educating the whole child.

Please do not be swayed by misinformation. The parent organizations at Ponderosa, Prairie View, Seltice, and West Ridge Elementary Schools as well as Post Falls Middle School, Frederick Post Kindergarten and Post Falls High School have all endorsed Dave and Michelle for their commitment and proven track record. Please join them in voting for these two excellent incumbents on May 17.

POWERS: Knows how best to serve

Serving on a local school board has often been called "the toughest volunteer job in America." School board members have the profound responsibility to speak out for the children in their community while balancing the needs of taxpayers. An effective school board member must be visionary but must also understand the intricacies of school funding formulas, parliamentary procedure, open meeting laws and public records requirements.

Patrons of School District 271 have the fortunate opportunity to retain Stephanie Powers as Trustee for Zone 2. Stephanie's depth and breadth of experience have served us well since her appointment to the School Board in June 2010. She understands the demands of this powerful, volunteer role and capably assumes the responsibility as if it were a full-time job.

We need school board members like Stephanie who understand strategic planning, community engagement and data-driven decision-making. I urge voters to elect Stephanie Powers as Trustee for School District #271 Trustee Zone 2.

SEYMOUR: Ideal for school board

This letter is to inform the public of Terri Seymour's character. She is running for the Coeur d'Alene school board on May 17 in Zone 3. I have a personal relationship with Terri, and I can tell you the kind of person you're voting for instead of just a name on the ballot.

I have known Terri for three years; she's a great supervisor and friend. I have found Terri to be a strong woman with good morals. She can be a little tough around the edges, but this woman knows what she wants and goes after it with all she's got. She would make an extraordinary member on the school board.

She has coordinated events at our church and Good Samaritan Rehabilitation. Terri is a very efficient woman who gets the job done. As a supervisor she is an exceptional leader with great people skills. She can take charge in any situation and come out on top. She has an eye for perfection and a unique ability to get the job done. She's always willing to lend a helping hand wherever there's a need.

Mothering is one of her best attributes. Having two children in public school will give her that extra edge in understanding the issues. She knows that if she improves the public school system she will improve the future for all children in Coeur d'Alene. Terri Seymour's children are her heart and she wants nothing more than to give them the best education possible.
