Jeter finds his long-ball swing, Yankees win

Derek Jeter homered twice after going 62 games without a long ball, Curtis Granderson went deep again and the New York Yankees beat the Texas Rangers 12-5 Sunday in Arlington, Texas, despite an erratic outing by CC Sabathia.

Jeter had gone 259 at-bats without a homer since last Aug. 24 before leading off the fifth with a liner that barely cleared the eight-foot wall into the Rangers' bullpen in right-center.

Angels 6, Indians 5: At Anaheim, Calif., Peter Bourjos drove in the tying run in the eighth inning with an infield single, Erick Aybar followed with a two-run double and Los Angeles beat Cleveland to give Mike Scioscia his 1,000th victory as a major league manager.

Red Sox 9, Twins 5: Adrian Gonzalez homered, Kevin Youkilis scored four runs and Daisuke Matsuzaka settled down to pitch six innings after a rough first, leading host Boston over Minnesota.

Tigers 5, Blue Jays 2: Brad Penny pitched well into the eighth inning and visiting Detroit beat Toronto.

Rays 5, Orioles 3: B.J. Upton drove in four runs, and Tampa Bay completed a three-game sweep in Baltimore.

Matt Joyce hit two doubles and scored twice for the Rays, who set a single-season franchise record with their eighth consecutive road win.

Athletics 5, Royals 2: Kevin Kouzmanoff and Kurt Suzuki each homered and host Oakland beat Kansas City.

Tyson Ross, who moved into the rotation last month when Dallas Braden went on the disabled list, went six innings and gave up two runs on six hits, with three walks and four strikeouts. He has not allowed a home run in 28 2/3 innings.

Marlins 8, Nationals 0: At Miami, Anibal Sanchez took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and struck out a career-high 11 to help Florida salvage the final game of its series against Washington.

Braves 5, Phillies 2: Jair Jurrjens pitched neatly into the seventh inning and visiting Atlanta got home runs from Freddie Freeman, Alex Gonzalez and pinch-hitter Eric Hinske to beat Philadelphia.

Reds 2, Cubs 0: Johnny Cueto was strong in his season debut, allowing five hits and pitching into the seventh to lead visiting Cincinnati past Chicago.

Giants 3, Rockies 0: Ryan Vogelsong and two relievers combined on a three-hitter and host San Francisco beat Colorado.

Cardinals 3, Brewers 1: Unbeaten Kyle McClellan worked into the ninth to become the NL's third five-game winner and host St. Louis beat Milwaukee.

Dodgers 4, Mets 2: Andre Ethier got back on track with a two-run homer, Clayton Kershaw struck out eight and visiting Los Angeles beat New York.

Pirates 5, Astros 4: Ryan Doumit hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning and host Pittsburgh improved to .500 this late in a season for the first time in six years.

Padres 4, Diamondbacks 3: Jorge Cantu hit a three-run homer and Aaron Harang pitched seven solid innings to lead host San Diego past Arizona.
