Angela Cross promises the usual: An afternoon of couture, classy company and contributions to folks in need.

The 12th annual Spring Fashion Show fundraiser for 3Cs (Cancer and Community Charities) is approaching in a couple weeks, and organizers are prodding folks to buy tickets early.

"Everyone loves this fashion show because they get to see their friends in it," said Angela Cross, fashion show chair. "Everybody will be there."

The event is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for the women's volunteer organization, which raises dollars through events and membership clubs and distributes proceeds to a multitude of Kootenai County charities.

"The money we make from everything we do we give back completely to Kootenai County," Cross said.

Most of the entities that receive checks from the 3Cs have reported a raise in demand for services, Cross said.

"We do have more requests than we can fill," she said. "Usually the groups that need money, its the people who work for them that spend their own money (at the fashion show) and help raise money for their groups."

So the more bodies that fill the seats at the fashion show, the better, said 3Cs spokeswoman Marcia Saunders.

"Just plan to come and have a wonderful time and give back," she said.

The event will include a luncheon and fashion show, featuring ensembles from local stores. About 50 models are participating, all 3Cs members and volunteers.

There will be a lot going on, said Marie Widmeyer, fashion show coordinator.

"Come to see what's going to happen," she said.

A raffle and auction will be part of the afternoon's festivities. The raffle will include a prize of $1,000 worth of gift certificates from some Coeur d'Alene retail stores, Cross said, as well a $600 spa package from The Coeur d'Alene Resort.

The nonprofit hopes to bring in more than the roughly $25,000 raised last year, she added.

"Of course our economy is really needy now, more so than in times past, but people are still coming," she said. "The same people give every year."

The 3Cs nonprofit has existed since 1975. The group raises money through several fundraising events and activity groups.

The fashion show is scheduled for 11:30 on May 17 at The Resort.

Tickets are $40 per person, and raffle tickets $5. Tables seat eight.

To purchase tickets, mail $40 to Caroline Crollard at P.O. Box 1274, Coeur d'Alene, ID, 83816. The organization requests folks include a stamped, self-addressed envelope for them to mail the tickets in.

Reservations must be made by Thursday, May 12.
