Carolyn Mae (Martin) Way, the third child of six, was born in New Richmond, Wis., to Charlie and Dolphane Martin. She attended the Reeve, Wis., Grade School and Clear Lake, Wis., Junior-Senior High School. Carolyn was active in her church, Sunday and Bible school, choir and 4-H. Her favorite Bible verse; John 3:16.

She loved to watch the Minnesota Twins play baseball. Nick named “spit fire” by her father; everyone knew not to interrupt a game for any reason. She loved to listen to music after which she would use the family piano to pick out the tune with her little index finger. Her favorite hymn was “Amazing Grace!” Carolyn frequently baby-sat her nieces and nephews and loved them so much.

Carolyn married Dan Way on Oct. 17, 1970, in Reeve. They lived in the Clear Lake area and then moved to Exland, Wis. While living in Exland their son Dale and daughter Shannon were born. Carolyn and Dan packed all they could in a pick-up and moved to Post Falls where son Ryan was born. Carolyn also lost three babies.

Carolyn attended the Post Falls Baptist Church. She enjoyed many years of bowling with family and friends. She loved watching football, soccer, wrestling and baseball. Her favorite thing was to watch and get acquainted with people.

She had five grandchildren and many others called her Nana. She loved to bake special Christmas cookies for her children that were sometimes hard and had a taste of baking powder. However always eaten. Carolyn was a housekeeper at Templins and took care of a lot of children in the Post Falls area.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Dolphane Martin and her own three babies.

She is survived by her son, Dale Way and his wife Heather; son Ryan Way; daughter Shannon Kenoyer and grandchildren, ShyAnn, Samuel, Payton, Brooklynn and Freddy.

“God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be. So he closed his arms around you, And whispered, Come to me. You didn’t deserve, What you went through. And so He gave you rest. God’s Garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. And when I saw you sleeping, So peaceful and free from pain, I could not wish you back, To suffer that again.”

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls.
