MOSES LAKE - Grant County youth can attend The Salvation Army's Camp Gifford at Deer Lake this summer.

The camp is being offered at a reduced cost of $25.

Financial assistance is offered to parents to send 65 Grant County kids to camp, explained Ken Palek, The Salvation Army's Grant County Service Representative.

To apply for camp, $25 is needed, along with a completed application and an immunization record. 

The full cost of the camp is $250 and $6 is made available to campers for snacks. 

"This is a true value," he commented.

If there are religious organizations wishing to gather a youth group, Palek encourages them to do so, especially if they don't have a summer camp.

"This is a perfect opportunity for kids to have a camp," he said.

Camp for children from Moses Lake, Quincy, Ephrata, Soap Lake, George, Grand Coulee, Coulee City, Electric City, Wilson Creek, Marlin, Stratford and Coulee Dam is held from June 27 to July 1. There are 45 openings, including 39 youth and six teens.

Camp for youth from Royal City, Matttawa, Beverly, Schawana and Desert Aire is offered from July 25-29. There are 20 openings, including 18 youth and two teens.

Age groups are 8-12 and 13-17.

For both weeks of camp, campers must be dropped off at 9 a.m., at the Moses Lake First Church of the Nazarene, at 422 S. Balsam St., Moses Lake.

Applications can be picked up at the Salvation Army's Moses Lake office, at 212 Alder St., from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday. 

Additional services, such as food, clothing and shelter assistance, are also available at the Moses Lake location.
