Montana basketball

Baker, a sophomore from Coeur d'Alene, was one of 34 University of Montana student-athletes named to the 2010-11 winter academic All-Big Sky Conference team. Baker, who is majoring in biology, is one of seven selections from the women's basketball team.

Jordan Schoening

Eastern Washington basketball

Schoening, a sophomore from Post Falls High, was one of 40 Eastern Washington University athletes to be named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for the winter semester. To be eligible, athletes must maintain a 3.20 grade point average and play in at least half of the team's competitions.

Jenna DeLong

Drake softball

DeLong, a senior from Coeur d'Alene High, struck out six batters and allowed four hits in a 4-0 win against Southern Illinois on Saturday to earn her 21st win of the season and improve her Missouri Valley Conference-best record to 14-2.

Rhianna Grossman

Carroll College track and field

Grossman, a freshman from Lake City High, won the women's 5,000 run in a time of 18 minutes and 12.31 seconds for the Saints at the Tom Gage Classic on Friday in Bozeman, Mont. She has qualified for the NAIA meet in the 1,500 and 3,000 steeplechase.

Trent Bridges

Lewis-Clark State baseball

Bridges, a junior from Lake City High, was named to the NAIA West All-Region team on Monday. Bridges hit .409 this season, splitting time between second and third base. His 186 plate appearances lead the team and also leads in hits (76), runs (53) and doubles (18).

Kyle Douglas

College of Idaho baseball

Douglas, a senior from Post Falls High, was selected to the NAIA West All-Region team on Monday. Douglas had a huge second half of the season, leading the Coyotes with nine home runs and 47 RBIs and raising his batting average 60 points over the final month of the year, finishing with a .272 mark and 15 stolen bases.

Lucas Pope

Idaho track and field

Pope, a senior from Coeur d'Alene, improved on his third all-time standing in the men's pole vault at Idaho and extending his Western Athletic Conference lead to nearly eight inches with a career-best height of 16 feet and 9 1/4 inches during the Oregon Twilight Invitational on Friday in Eugene.

Shawn Henderson

University of Idaho basketball

Henderson, a senior formerly of North Idaho College, was presented the Jay Gano Award during Tuesday's team awards banquet. The award is named for a former Vandal letterwinner, who was killed in action during the Korean War in 1951, and honors the player voted most inspirational by his teammates.

Bruce Amende

York (Neb.) College baseball

Amende, a senior from Coeur d'Alene High, allowed five hits over nine innings and striking out eight to lead the Panthers past Peru State College 7-1 last Thursday in the Midlands Athletic Conference tournament.

Ryan Booth

Eastern Oregon track and field

Booth, a senior from Post Falls, was among 199 athletes named Academic All-Cascade Conference last Thursday. To earn recognition as a scholar-athlete, a student must have a minimum cumulative GPA and of sophomore standing.
