LAKES: A record to be proud of

Being an incumbent in an election can be a good or a bad thing because you have a record of your actions and your votes to show what you have done. Informed voters will look at that record, not a bunch of hollow campaign rhetoric to see if the incumbent has EARNED reelection by what he has done, not what he says.

The election for Lakes Highway District Commissioners is a good case in point. Four people are running to unseat two incumbents, Marv Lekstrom and "Monty" Montgomery. Lekstrum and Montgomery have a proven track record, one that has saved the residents of LHD nearly $1 million during their first term. These guys seem to spend OUR money like it is coming out of THEIR checkbooks.

That is a welcome relief to what happens in other taxing districts. The challengers seem to having nothing to offer, other than they are not the incumbents and they used to work for LHD.

Marv Lekstrum and "Monty" Montgomery have done a good job for those of us who live in, and drive through LHD, and have earned a second term as Lakes Highway District Commissioners.
