POST FALLS - A 74-year-old Hayden woman was in critical condition at Kootenai Medical Center on Thursday after a vehicle collision north of Post Falls on Wednesday night.

June Kuenzel was injured while traveling eastbound on Prairie Avenue at McGuire Road in her 2003 Ford Taurus at about 7:30 p.m.

According to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department, Kuenzel had stopped at the stop sign, then began to enter the intersection, failing to yield to a 1999 Dodge truck that was southbound on McGuire and driven by Scott J. Szoke, 48, Greenacres, Wash.

The intersection has a stop sign for east- and westbound Prairie Avenue McGuire is a through road with no stop sign.

Neither Szoke nor a passenger in the truck were injured.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to the sheriff's department.
