TAXES: Rate and reality not same

There you go again. Comparing apples to oranges. While it is true that the average American worker pays 22.4 percent in income and social security taxes, you then go on to quote the corporate tax rate, not what the average American corporation pays in income taxes.

As you well know from recent media reports, two-thirds of American corporations pay no federal income taxes at all. So the corporate tax "rate" is meaningless in any thoughtful discussion.

Our current tax system is so full of exemptions, exceptions, tax credits and special interest subsidies for both individuals and corporations that it is pathetic. One politician's "loophole" is another politician's "pork" for his/her home district. One fact remains, it is possible to fool most of the people most of the time.
