Lenora Schumacher, 87, passed away May 1, 2011, at Life Care Center of Coeur d'Alene. Lenora was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Carrington, N.D., to Samuel and Lenora Pulver. Upon graduation from Zap High School Lenora taught in country schools during World War II. During this time, she met her husband to be Frank Schumacher. They were married on Oct. 15, 1946, and farmed in Bluegrass, N.D., until 1956 when they moved to Post Falls.

Lenora fondly known as "Sis" was a homemaker, loving mother and a devoted grandmother. She was a member of St. George's Catholic Church. Great-granddaughter Eden called her "Grandma Great" and that she was. Unconditional love, undying faith and creating many fond childhood memories were her greatest gifts. As a family, we would bake her famous farmhouse cookies, decorate and hang them on the Christmas tree. On baking day, the wonderful smell of cinnamon rolls would greet us as we came home from school.

She loved to read, make quilts for her grandchildren, crochet and garden. Many beautiful flowers adorned her yard. Watching her grandchildren pick endless bouquets of pansies delighted her. Playing cards and board games with her family brought out her competitive spirit and gave her much joy.

Lenora is survived by her five children, Roy and Arvada Schumacher, Coeur d'Alene, Frank and Mary Schumacher, College Place, Wash., Don and Darcy Schumacher, Elko, Nev., Carol and Ron Roskammer, Lewiston, and Linda and David Schell, Greenacres, Wash.; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Sam and Joe Pulver of Beulah, N.D.

Lenora was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Schumacher; her brothers, Bud, Louis and Frank Pulver; sisters Florence Koester and Amelia Bowen; and grandson John Box.

Lenora will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her loving smile and that twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, a memorial Mass will be held at St. George's Catholic Church and burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, is in charge of the arrangements.
