SELAH - A split result on Saturday gave the Othello Lady Huskies third place in the Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) district tournament.
Othello fell 7-0 in the semifinal round to open the day but bounced back to beat Grandview 19-1 in the third/fourth place game.
The Lady Huskies now move on to the regional tournament in Selah starting Saturday where they will go against No. 2 seed Cheney in a loser out game starting at 11 a.m.
If they win that contest they would battle Selah at approximately 2 p.m. in a semi final game.
Othello (17-5) was three-hit by Ellensburg but found their bats in the rout of Grandview.
"The Grandview pitcher who had pitched all day and had been hit with a line drive in the previous game was gun shy," Othello head coach Rudy Ochoa said. "She threw almost every thing outside so she wouldn't get hit. We took advantage of it."
Othello scored seven runs in the first inning and then 11 more in their next at bats while cruising to the win.
Brenda Rodriguez recorded the win from the mound.
"The nice thing was we got to clear our bench and allow everybody to have district experience," Ochoa said. "Our bench made only one error and played very well."
