ROYAL CITY - Having a 16-3 record in a memorable season is always something to be proud of.

But the Royal Knights unfortunately have lost all three matches to the same, Class 1A defending champions of Wahluke.

On Friday, Wahluke won the South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) District title with a 5-4 edge in the shootout to take their third decision on the year against Royal.

Royal's Christian Guerrero, Shaq Ledezma, Jose Gaxiola, and Alex Ramirez all hit their penalty kicks against one miss, but Wahluke secured all five of their shots without a miss to win the match.

Royal, who outshot Wahluke 11-8, play against Brewster tomorrow in the Class 1A state tournament first round. The time and location were not announced by the WIAA as of press time.

Royal would play Wahluke for a fourth time if both teams win their first two playoff games to lock horns once again in the Class 1A semifinals.
