McEUEN: Other survey disagrees
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 13 years, 8 months AGO
The survey at www.savecda.org is designed to allow the citizens of this area to express their opinion regarding the remodel of McEuen Park. The founders of this survey are concerned that the public has not been given a chance to express the items they wish to preserve in McEuen Park.
The survey at www.savecda.org also has current results displayed. These results change daily, but today this is the tally: 82 percent of respondents wish the Third Street Boat Launch to remain. 82 percent request that at least one, if not all, of the ball fields should stay. 91.8 percent wish nothing to be done to Tubbs Hill except perhaps small trail head improvements. 88.4 percent do not see a multi-level garage as a priority or wish to know more about the cost, funding and maintenance. 72 percent are against closing streets for pedestrian walkways with 14.8 percent undecided. 84.5 percent do not think the current plan addresses the needs of the majority of local residents. 83 percent would like the entire plan and funding to go on the November Ballot. Our mayor and City Council are FULLY AWARE OF THESE STATISTICS and are also in possession of the accompanying comments and suggestions.
The McEuen planning team were told to dream big and use a blank slate. They were not given a budget. This has now proven to be a flawed process. That is the BAD NEWS. The good news is, this is the third time a plan has been attempted for McEuen Park and the SECOND plan can now be recycled because it actually DOES ADDRESS THE WISHES OF THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE. The mayor and City Council are also aware of this.
Take the McEuen survey at www.savecda.org or contact the Community Leaders that are going to make this decision. You can call the city at (208) 769-2300. You may email Mayor Bloem: mayor@cdaid.org, Mrs. Goodlander: dgoodlander@cdaid.org, Mr. Kennedy: mkennedy@cdaid.org, Mr. McEvers: wmcevers@cdaid.org, Mr. Bruning: retired.bruno@gmail.com. Mr. Edinger is not in denial about how the public feels, so give him your kind thoughts.
There is a City Council meeting scheduled to be held at 6 p.m. May 24 at Woodland Middle School.
The city could adopt this unpopular "conceptual plan" at that meeting. Please friends, do what you can to impress the mayor and City Council with your thoughts and ideas.
