A 21-year-old man seriously injured in an accidental shooting in Kellogg has been released from the hospital, Kellogg Police Chief David Wuolle said Wednesday.
William Yergler was shot in the stomach May 9, when Anthony Rivadeneira was showing him a handgun, Wuolle said.
Rivadeneira, 28, was shot in the hand, he said.
The accident occurred about 6:30 p.m. at Rivadeneira's home at the corner of Chestnut Street and Mission Avenue.
Yergler, son of Kellogg police officer Gary Yergler, was released from the hospital Monday afternoon, Wuolle said.
Will Yergler lost both a kidney and his gallbladder, he said. The bullet is still lodged in his body.
Wuolle said he believes Rivadeneira was showing Yergler how to take the gun apart when it discharged.
The Osburn Police Department handled the investigation for Kellogg because of Yergler's connection to the city's police department, Wuolle said.
