Expo for best golden years experiences

COEUR d'ALENE - The 72-year-old woman had a question.

Andreas John had the right answer.

He told her to come to The Coeur d'Alene Resort between 4 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1. She'd called to find out if there was a simple way for a resident to find out all about retirement options in Kootenai County, including independent and assisted living alternatives, without making dozens of appointments and driving all over the place.

John, event coordinator for The Press, referred her to the Young at Heart Expo - his fifth expo this year.

"This one involves virtually everything that's related to the baby boomer generation," John said. "You don't have to be retired to get in. If you're beginning to look at your future or the future of a loved one approaching senior years, this is the perfect event for you."

In addition to learning about prospective places to live and accompanying services, visitors to the Young at Heart Expo will be treated to information about reverse mortgages, health and fitness and medical services available in the region.

With the event less than two weeks away, John said anyone interested in having a booth at the Expo should call him soon, at 664-0219. The Young at Heart Expo has a limited number of booth spaces available, he said, and always fill up quickly.

"Vendors understand that from a marketing standpoint, these events are huge for the participants," he said. "It's a one-two punch: Advertising in a Press product targeted just for this show, and the show itself. Results you get from this show are some of the best results you can get. Who wouldn't want hundreds of interested customers coming in to see what you have to offer?"

John said booths aren't one-size-fits-all.

"We have a program for anyone," he said. "We'll custom fit a package for any business."

For visitors there is no admission charge, and The Resort extends free parking to expo visitors. Free hors d'oeuvres will be served, and no-host cocktails will be available. There will also be a drawing for a $400 Resort gift card.
