CHELAN - A dominant run of form continued for the Warden boys and girls golf teams on Tuesday at Lake Chelan Golf Course (par 72).

That's where both Cougars squads captured North Central Washington B district tournament titles as nine Warden golfers advanced to next week's state finals in Lakewood.

The boys team cruised to a solid win with a score of 356 to easily outdistance Oroville and their final total of 396.

Five Cougars advanced to the state meet, including medalist Trent Bates who shot a 78 to cruise to the title.

The other Warden golfers to make their mark and advance to Meadow Park Golf Course just outside of Tacoma next week were Caleb Caballero who shot a 90, and Brandon Wurzer, Kenny Sullivan and Conrad Ruge who all shot 94s to make it a solid quintet of Cougars headed to state.

All told, Warden's golfers accounted for five of the top scores at the meet.

Taylor Edson shot a 94 to be named the medalist on the girls side and she also set the pace for the winning Lady Cougars.

Warden led the way with a team score of 423. No other team scores were made available to Lady Cougars' coaching staff however they were notified that they had won the title.

Joining Edson at state will be fellow Warden linksters Carter Marks (105), Lara Crow (110), and Brittany Stavig (114).

"I am so proud of our entire team.  They have worked hard," Warden head coach Myrtle Voss said. " They made quite a few adjustments to a new league and district. We are looking forward to state next week."

Joining the state party will be two golfers from Moses Lake Christian Academy.

Sophomore Ame McPhetridge shot a 103 to finish in fourth place in the girls' competition and will make it to the state tournament for a second consecutive season.

On the boys side, Madison Molitor will wrap up his freshman season in Tacoma after shooting a qualifying score of 99, good enough for ninth place.

Senior Isaac Murrell placed as an alternate with a score of 100.

Austyn Kagele finished with a 129 for the Academy and did not qualify for the state meet.
