Vals start fast at divisional track

MISSOULA - Bigfork won the 400 relay, Emily Moxley had the best time in the 1,600 and the Valkyries used runner-up finishes by Caitlin Charlebois in the pole vault and Chelsea Olson in the 1,600 to take a huge lead in the team race at the Western B divisional track meet on Friday.

Bigfork leads the standings with 51 points, while Superior trails in second place with 34. Eureka is third, 20.

Bailey Malecha won the 400 for Eureka's lone first on the day.

Bigfork had placers in five of the six events.

Quinci Paine, Jen Egdorf, Charlebois and Mallery Knoll were members of the winning relay.

Darby leads the boys field with 47 points after seven events. Bigfork is eighth with 10.

The divisional wraps up today at Missoula County Stadium.
