Lake City junior Luke Ness fell to Lewiston's Rafa Hewett-Steiger 6-4, 6-2 to finish second in boys singles in the state 5A tournament at the Boise Racquet and Swin Club.

Ness defeated two-time champion Garrett Patton of Boise in the semifinals 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the title match against Hewitt-Steiger.

Ronique Padda of Lake City lost to Kaitlyn Brown of Eagle in straight sets playing back in the consolation bracket.

Boise won the boys team title and Idaho Falls won the girls in a tiebreaker with Boise.

In the 4A tournament, both Kevin Kirby of Sandpoint and the Lakeland doubles team of Godwin Peck and Laszlo Asztalos fell in the consolation semifinals at Julia Davis Park in Boise.

The Hillcrest boys and Bonneville girls won team titles.

In the 3A tournament at Vallivue High in Caldwell, the Clark Fork doubles team of Stillman Berkley and Nate Nesbitt lost in three sets to a team from Parma in the third-place match.

The Parma boys and Fruitland girls won state titles.
