SOAP LAKE - Concerned Citizens of Soap Lake will host a town meeting Tuesday to discuss the town's economic climate and other issues.
The town meeting takes place from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Soap Lake Senior Center, 121 Second Ave. SE.
"The purpose of the meeting is to gather the citizens to address what they feel needs to be done in Soap Lake," said Brenda Ready, a member of the organization. "It's our hope that we can gather the community - not just the local representatives, but the community itself, the people that live here - and get them talking about what they think is important and see if we can't create some unity and get Soap Lake growing again."
A group of approximately 40 people, which became Concerned Citizens of Soap Lake, has been meeting over the last two months discussing the state of the town, Ready said.
The meeting will center around five issues: growth and economic well being, understanding and promoting the lake, greater citizen involvement in decisions, a safe environment free from crime, and infrastructure rehabilitation.
The issues will be ranked, and questions and ideas will be brainstormed at the meeting, Ready said. A follow-up meeting will be held in a month to revisit the issues and begin looking into how solutions brainstormed during the first meeting can be implemented.
