Lucas Pope

Idaho track and field

Pope, a senior from Coeur d'Alene, will make his first NCAA appearance after qualifying for the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Eugene, Ore., on Thursday. Pope is seeded 14th out of 48 competitors. He is a five-time Western Athletic Conference pole vault champion, but barely missed the cut the last two indoor seasons, but with a school record vault of 17 feet, 3 inches in the WAC Championships in Honolulu, clinched his bid. A top-12 finish will advance Pope to the NCAA championships in Des Moines, Iowa, June 8-11.

Jenna DeLong

Drake softball

DeLong, a senior from Coeur d'Alene High, was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association/Louisville Slugger All-Midwest Region second team. She struck out 228 batters, the third-most ever in a season by a Drake pitcher and tied for the team lead with 10 home runs. She finished as the school's career leader in strikeouts (760) and was second in wins (64).

Lela Work

Boise State softball

Work, a sophomore from Lake City High, allowed six hits in nine scoreless innings and struck out nine in relief as the Broncos defeated Louisiana Tech in the Western Athletic Conference tournament at Bulldog Stadium in Fresno on Thursday. Work finished the season with seven saves in 26 appearances, leaving her tied for fourth in the nation in saves.

Andrew Roller

Community Colleges of Spokane golf

Roller, a freshman from Coeur d'Alene High, was named the NWAACC league MVP. Roller finished fourth in the NWAACC tournament on Monday with a 71 and 76 to finish at 3-over par at Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewick, Wash.

Alex Pounds

Community Colleges of Spokane golf

Pounds, a freshman from Coeur d'Alene High, was named to the all-NWAACC team, finishing second to former Viking teammate Andrew Roller for league MVP honors. Pounds shot 72 on both days of the NWAACC tournament to finish at even-par 144 and second place. Spokane won three of four league tournaments, including the NWAACC championship.

J.J. Turbin

Westmont College baseball

Turbin, a redshirt freshman from Coeur d'Alene High, led the NAIA Warriors with 60 hits and 17 stolen bases as they concluded the season 19-30.
