The Fat Tones to play at Northern Quest

Spokane's favorite blues band The Fat Tones will rock the stage in the Pend Oreille Pavilion at Northern Quest Resort & Casino on Saturday night.

Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Show time is 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance and available at the Northern Quest Box Office at 481-6700 or $10 at the door. The show is 21 and over.

Dance to the music and enjoy special red, white and blue drink specials in honor of the Memorial Day Weekend. Tickets to this show will also get guests into Impulse, Northern Quest's nightclub, for free after the show. Cover is usually $5.

The Fat Tones have been recognized regionally as a band who takes the sound of blues to a whole different level. Their hit CDs include 'Struttin' released in 2006, 'Fifty Bucks and Free Beer' released in 2008 and their most recent, 'Everybody Must Get Toned' released in 2009.

Watercolor workshop set for June 3-4

Barbara Irvine's Demo and two-day Watercolor Workshop geared to all levels of painters is set for next month.

Irvine's career as an artist and teacher spans half a century. She is excited to share her knowledge with the community, including non-artists, in a painting demonstration on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and in the workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, June 3-4. "Barbara's passion for painting and enthusiastic, spirited teaching style intrigues non-painters, makes beginning painters feel comfortable and challenges the advanced," according to a press release.

The demo and workshop will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 5th and Wallace.
