Columbia Falls soccer standout McKenzie Kiser will play for the New Mexico Highlands University Skyhawks starting next fall.

Kiser was a key component of the Wildkats' explosive offense this season. She scored 27 goals in her senior year and 22 as a junior.

Kiser said she found the small university in a search of western schools with soccer programs. She contacted the Skyhawks coach, Justin Wagar, and sent him a highlight tape.

She also attended a camp he hosted over the summer and was offered a tuition scholarship to play for the school, which is in Las Vegas, N.M.

"I'm really excited about playing there," she said last week.

Kiser said she's undecided on a major but is considering physical education.

New Mexico Highlands University is an NCAA Division II school and is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. This year, the team was 9-7-1. Kiser said she keeps in game form in the off-season by playing indoor soccer.
