Lorraine Mildred Witherspoon, 91

Lorraine Mildred Witherspoon, 91, passed away at Life Care Center in Coeur d'Alene on Nov. 2, 2011.

Lorraine was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Milwaukee, Wis., to George and Anna (Soulen) Paasch.

She married Ray Witherspoon on May 19, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wis. They moved to the Coeur d'Alene area in the mid-1940s after Ray was discharged from the U.S. Navy.

Lorraine worked as kitchen help in the dining room of Coeur d'Alene Homes for some 20 years and later worked at the North Idaho College Student Union until 1990.

She was a member of the Rambling Rovers and Lake City Senior Center. She enjoyed playing pinochle at the Jewett House.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Diana Witherspoon of Post Falls; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and John Spellman of Coeur d'Alene, and Judy and Don Schaffer of Dalton Gardens; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and sister friend Loretta Brueher.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Witherspoon; and her brother, Marshall.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene.
