Marty was born on July 29, 1939, in Worland, Wyoming to Remigio and Refugio Beltran Medrano. Her parents and 12 siblings moved from Worland Wyoming to Toppenish WA and finally settled in Moses Lake, WA. Marty married Oscar Guerrero on November 25, 1967, and created a loyal and loving family.
Marty was the Hispanic June Cleaver, the ideal wife and mother. Her passion was her family and she was dedicated to our health and well-being. As a Mother, she was committed to teaching her daughters how to live life with honor and respect. She engaged us in numerous extra-curricular activities to build our character and confidence, like Girl Scouts (she loved to have the girls come over to her home and earn their merit badges with sewing, crocheting and arts & crafts). Marty loved family gatherings (e.g. camping at Icicle Creek, opening season at Blue Lake, spending time with her grandchildren or just having coffee with her sisters). Marty was a gracious individual and her home was always open to family and friends.
Marty's great talent was her showcase garden; people walking by her garden would ask if they could take a tour of her beautiful sanctuary. She was extremely creative; she sewed dresses for her daughters; decorated the house for every holiday and was an exceptional cook (her recipes were coveted by all). To this day, she is still remembered for her tuxedo crust turkey, with cuff links and all.
Marty is preceded in death by her parents, Remigio and Refugio Medrano, and four siblings: Robert Medrano, Emilio Medrano, Nora Alamos, and Jenny Harless.
Marty is survived by her husband, Oscar Guerrero and her 4 daughters: Sophia Guerrero, Lydia Guerrero, Gina Jones, and Natalie (Ryan) Hopperstad and 6 grandchildren: Alana (Omar) Vega, Mariah and Grace Vasquez, Jayda and Isaiah Hopperstad and Regan Jones. She is also survived by her siblings: Ralph (Lorraine) Medrano, JR (Janice) Medrano, Lupe Medrano, Rosie (Hector) Gonzalez, Ruthie (Hector) Arreloa, Vicki (John) Langlot, Christina (John) Mitchell, Gloria Medrano and numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank all of our mother's brothers and sisters and healthcare professionals for their compassion in our mother's courageous 12 year battle against Alzheimer's. We are proud of our Dad's absolute devotion to her and his love eased her passing in the end.
Mom, we know you are in Heaven looking down at us with full acknowledgment and love in your heart; we go forward knowing you are whole again.
"May the Peace of God, which surpasses all understanding - Guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."
