Gladys Marcella 'Gal' Lydiksen, 91

Gladys Marcella "Gal" Lydiksen, 91, died peacefully at her residence in Coeur d'Alene on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011.

Born April 24, 1920, in Livermore, Calif., to John and Asta (Frederiksen) Regan. She attended St. Michael's School for elementary education and graduated from Livermore J.U.H.S. in 1937. On April 28, 1940, she married George C. Lydiksen.

Gladys lived in Livermore during her youth. She lived in Oakland, Calif., while working at Blue Cross during and after the war. She and George then moved to Dublin, Calif., where they raised their daughter, Marcia. They then built a home in Pleasanton, Calif. Gladys moved to Coeur d'Alene in 2002, after George had passed away to be near her daughter.

Gladys was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the Livermore-Amador Valley Historical Society. She loved china painting and had many happy times with the "China Dolls." She took great pride in her beautiful Pleasanton garden.

Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Lydiksen (Coeur d'Alene); sister Mary (Joseph) Just (Livermore); brother Joseph (Shirley) Regan (Wilsonville, Ore.); sisters Margaret (Archie) Cassingham (Scotts Valley, Calif.) and Dorothy Freeman (Gilroy, Calif.); brother-in-law and sister-in-law Constantine and Jane (Lydiksen) Poulos; brother-in-law Keith Andersen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 61 years, George (Oct. 9, 2001); brother and sister-in-law John and Ruth Regan; brother-in-law Eulen "Bob" Freeman; sister Ramona Andersen and nephew Gary Poulos.

Viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, with the service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at Callaghan Mortuary, 3833 East Ave., Livermore. The graveside service will be immediately after at St. Michael's Cemetery in Livermore.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcome for the music program at Lydiksen School, 7700 Highland Oaks Drive, Pleasanton, CA 94588 or to a charity of your choice.
