Area restaurants to offer free meals for veterans

Several restaurants are treating veterans, active and retired, to a free meal on Friday, Veterans Day.

Texas Roadhouse will participate in a free lunch event from 11 a.m, to 2 p.m. to honor the men and women of our armed forces.

Veterans can choose one of 10 entrees plus a beverage during lunch. Proof of service includes military or VA card, or discharge papers.

Applebee's is also offering a free meal to veterans on Friday. Last year, Applebee's served 1,024,000 free meals to military veterans and active servicemembers. There will be 7 entrees to choose from. Military ID or proof of service required.

Other restaurants are offering deals to honor veterans, too.

Tito's Italian Grill in downtown Coeur d'Alene is offering its "11 for $11" entree and pizza deal in honor of veterans. Signature entrees and pizzas are $11 all month.

Senior center lists lunch menu

The following lunches will be available at the Post Falls Senior Center Wednesday, Nov. 9, through Monday, Nov. 14:

• Wednesday - Turkey croissant, macaroni salad, spinach and cookies and ice creme

• Friday - Salmon boats, roasted potatoes, peas and carrots, chocolate creme pie

• Monday - Taco salad, tortilla soup, chef's choice of dessert

Eat pancakes, help Good Sam rehab center

COEUR d'ALENE - A pancake fundraiser to benefit the Good Samaritan Rehabilitation Center is set for 9-11 a.m. Nov. 12 at The Altar Church, Best and Ninth.

It is $5 per person.

The nonprofit organization offers drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and recently worked with its 1000th patient.

"While they are not all that well known, they have made a large impact on our community," according to a press release.
